The cost of War

Of course, if there is a war with Iraq.. there is going to be loss of life. In the gulf war, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis died.. tens of thousands were civilian's.

So, I don't mean to trivialize that loss at all... this time Saddam won't want to go down without taking a few people out himself. That's not what I mean... today..

Do you know what the monetary cost of war is? Estimates are anywhere from $200,000,000,000.00 to 1,000,000,000,000.00 I am not even sure I have the right amount of zeros there..

$200 Billion to $1 Trillion dollars.

Based on the last census.. that would mean that every single man woman and child in the United State would have to pay from $800 to around $3,500 to fight a war on Iraq.

If you had to make the decision with your pocketbook, because it is your money.. would you do it? Would you invest.... $1,000 to fight the war against Saddam? $500? $50?

I really just wanted to make the point that it would just be amazing what kind of good we could do with that money... how many people could be fed, how many lives could be saved from disease.

I just wonder... what the world would be like if we fought the war against hunger and poverty the same way we do against terrorism.

What price will we pay for our mixed up priorities?
