A change has done me good

I am so rejuvenated in my new job. I love calling people all over the world. I just got off the phone with the CEO of a major corporation in Ha Noi, Vietnam. We had a nice long conversation about things. As I looked at his address, I remember when I was young... back in 1971 and there were bumper stickers that said "Where are our POWs? ... Only Ha Noi knows...." I still remember them... blue and red.

I had fears that Iraq would turn into another Vietnam, but it looks like those fears were unfounded. It hasn't been easy, but war is not easy.

Yesterday, I was watching a reporter from the Middle East.. I really try to get as much news as possible, from as many viewpoints as possible before making up my mind. This reporter was saying that the "Republican Guard" only existed in the propaganda of the United States that there was no Iraqi military resistance. The thing is.. it is hard for some people to realize that.. many of the people in the military of Iraq just faded into the population and I bet that some of them were the biggest... shoe slappers on Saddam's pictures.

I wonder if there will be a change in perception of the U.S. I sort of doubt it... The U.S and England liberated France in World War II and look how much the French like us.

I do think that there will be a small perception shift. Just look how hard the troops are trying not to upset the Iraqi people. Sure, one guy put an American Flag on the statue of Saddam before it fell... hey, it's sort of like cutting the nets after you win the basketball championship isn't it? I think the troops deserve to celebrate, I think they are all heroes.. regardless of what you think of the war.. I am proud of all of those men and women that have fought in Iraq and continue to fight for the freedom of people of Iraq. You can say that it is really about oil, or that it is really about a presence in the Middle East. But.. you know what? We shouldn't forget that the people of Iraq will be the biggest benefactors of this action.

Ok... back to calling the people of the world :)
