change it up to study
When I was in college, if I really wanted to study, I would go to the library. I would not study at home, too many distractions.
That hasn't changed, I am a creature of habit, luckily my job allows me to change the location of where I work everyday. Why? well sometimes, sitting at my desk at home, I easily can spend hours surfing the internet or on three or four forums posting away as if i was having a real conversation with people.
So, today... I needed to really crank out some work.. so I went to Borders bookstore and have been here from 9am to 5pm... all day.. I have barely left my computer... funny thing is, I am not alone. At least three other people have been here as long as me. one guy has been reading in and reading and studying.. nothing in particular, but he looks intense as if his brain is going to explode. As for me it is the opposite, the more I get done, the less burden on my shoulders so it was a good day.
Then again I am surprised at how some people bare their soul in public places.. I heard a woman tell her friend about her pending divorce and all the details.. and then there is the tarot card reading woman that acts as if she is in her living room.. not that Borders bookstore is a library, but it is quiet and to hear someone get excited about the card she just flipped over for someone and then ask them what they think of that... goofy..
behind me are two boys about the age of alex and andy... they are doing their homework while mom shops or something... or maybe they just stop here because they are latch key kids... I am not really paying attention.. just that I know that they are doing homework and they are wearing shirts from the local most expensive private school around.
I have my ipod on, and it's time to stop for the day. I hit my goal of what I wanted to get accomplished.. good thing.. I can sleep tonight.
ciao
