Tree in the yard

Last week, I went shopping for a big tree for the backyard to act as shade for the patio in the summer. I wanted something that would also have some character in the winter. I chose a River Birch and I can't wait to have it planted. The only thing is, that because it has been so hot here, they won't plant it until mid to late September.

Cool stuff about this tree... it has a white looking bark that peels off the tree and it grows in clumps.. ours will have three trunks and it fans out with light branches that make a nice sound and also provide good shade.

I am so happy with this choice. I love gardening. The other trees that I have planted in the back yard(10 of them) are smaller right now. There are 2 maples, 2 redbuds, 2 crabapples 2 other smaller river birches a plum and an ash. Whoa, someday it will feel like a forest... :) in about 20 years!
