Too Quick
On Christmas day, I picked up the boys... we went to my Dad's house and they were excited to start opening their presents. My sister and my Uncle came up. The boy's cousins were here to open their presents too. It was fun. I made some videotapes and watched the boys having a great time. They also spent some time outside. It seemed as if all the kids were jealous of Andy, becuase it seemed as if he got more toys. He got all GI joe stuff.. while Alex got some books and some trains... things he really couldn't play with here. I got Alex a special pen so he could write me with it. He came up to me and gave me the card that I wrote to him and the pen and said.. "Dad, mom won't let me keep these so you should send them to school" I hope the boys were able to keep the rest of their stuff. As the day went on, both of the boys became a little distant.. on the ride home they hardly said a word. The both just stared out the window. Andy told me earlier that he didn't want to cry. It was tense and I said my goodbyes before we got in the car.
When we got to thier mother's they picked up their big bags and got out... they closed the door and didn't look back. Unfortunately, that is the memory that keeps coming back to me. Last night when I was sleeping, I saw the boys.. quiet in the car and then leaving without looking back at me. I miss them already.. I missed them the moment they got out of the car. I don't know when i will see them again.
I hope that it is soon. Alex said the same thing.. he didn't know when we would see each other again.
