A name from the past

I was going through my list of new leads... contacting them one by one. Leaving messages, sending emails and then a name popped up that I haven't seen in awhile. It was the name of the girl that went to the senior prom with me. Her name was Kim B. , and it wasn't the same one.. at least I don't think so.

When I saw the name.. I looked at the sheet of paper.. and reminisced about those few days we were together. I didn't have a girlfriend in High School and for that matter, I really didn't have one in college either. Well, as I have mentioned before.. I was a very shy boy until a life changing event in my senior year of high school. That event was my big coming out.. I became popular because I did a Steve Martin impression in the school talent show. I started doing my own stand up routine and just became crazy around school.

I had never been to a school dance before.. never had been to a prom.. but a few girls came up and told me that this is how it worked.. The girls decided who was going with who (or is that whom?). A few weeks before the big prom, I got word that Kim liked me and wanted to go with me. I was stunned.. she was so cute and so nice.. why me? So, I asked her and she said yes. I got a suit and bought a corsage. I picked her up in my dad's 1972 240Z.. I didn't have a clue what to do.. my hands were shaking so much that her mom had to put on her corsage. We kissed that night, and for me.. it was my first real kiss.. Yup.. I was a Senior in High School.. and of course, I fell in love. We went out one more time, to a picnic and my future step sister double dated with us (I didn't know she was going to be my future step sister)

Then a week later, she called me and told me that she couldn't go out with me anymore.. she told me that she got a letter from her Bishop (she was Mormon) and he told her that she could no longer date non Mormons. I was hurt.. very hurt... what was this game? I mean.. she wanted me to come to her church and I refused.. I said it was all a scam.

No, it probably wasn't the same Kim B., but the name still brought back some memories.
